Have you been hurt at work? Were you rushed back to work by the company doctor? A work injury is oftentimes taken care of by your employer. Sometimes, the employer is not liable for your injury. Below are 4 helpful tips to guide you through your work injury:

Step 1

Report your injury. Make sure to report your injury to a supervisor. You may be asked to sign an incident report and/or statement If there were/are witnesses involved, they will likely be asked to sign a witness statement.

Step 2

Seek medical attention. It is important you get medical attention for your injury(ies). It is common for your employer to send you to a company doctor. If the company doctor rushes you to get back to work, do not hesitate to get a second opinion.

Step 3

Workers compensation benefits. If your company has workers compensation benefits, they will likely pay for your medical treatment, and missed hours of work. These benefits are referred to as medical and indemnity benefits.

**If your company has workers compensation benefits, you cannot not file an injury claim against them, regardless of who’s at fault. You may have a claim if you were hurt at a plant, refinery or other place of business.

Step 4

Contact an attorney for help. The Alfred Firm can answer your work injury questions.
